Expansion signals steady growth for battery industry; brings 851,000-sf building to 90 percent occupied
National battery distributor Energy Battery Group, Inc. (EBG) has signed a long-term, 72,937-square-foot lease for industrial and office space at 1200 Route 523 in Raritan, New Jersey. This transaction, arranged by Colliers International, brings the 851,000-square-foot building to 90 percent occupied.
EBG provides battery distributors and manufacturers with options for group buying of battery services and products including automotive, commercial, marine, industrial, standby, motorcycle and motive power batteries. The private company maintains a national network of more than 120 battery distributors.
The new lease at 1200 Route 523 — signed to accommodate the firm’s expanding operations and workforce — is comprised of 64,044 square feet of industrial space and 8,893 square feet of office space. The property is owned by Equity Industrial Flemington LLC.
“Energy Battery Group’s expansion signals steady growth for the battery industry and this new location will complement EBG’s other spaces throughout the country,” said Joe Nitti, an Executive Managing Director for Colliers International’s Industrial Group, who represented the landlord in the transaction. “As an economical, secondary market that services Southeast New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Raritan is a good growth market for the industrial sector.”
Jason Adams, of Coldwell Banker Commercial Feist & Feist Realty Corp., represented the tenant in the transaction.
1200 Route 523 is conveniently located just off of Routes 31 and 202. Other tenants at the building include Johanna Farms and Whitehurst and Clark.
